  7. addendum? Well, this one here 
  8. comes right in the middle of the
  9. manual, because it belongs to the
  10. two screens you just viewed.

  12. #C014RECEIVING HELP ANY TIME...
  13.  
  14. The Help & Order Info can be acti-
  15. vated from almost anywhere within
  16. the game, by pressing the #C011F1#C015-key.
  17. When you leave Help you'll be 
  18. right back at the same point where
  19. you left off.

  21. #P#C014PAUSING THE GAME
  22.  
  23. While you're in the actual race, 
  24. you can press #C011'P'#C015 or #C011BUTTON 3#C015 on
  25. your control device. That's the
  26. #C014YELLOW BUTTON#C015 on a Gravis GamePad.
  27.  
  28. #C014This will freeze the action in-
  29. #C014stantaneously! 
  30.  
  31. In order to resume to the game 
  32. press either #C011Ctrl#C015, #C011Alt#C015, the 
  33. #C011space bar#C015, or #C011BUTTON 1#C015 or #C0112#C015.

  48. to confuse you by introducing any

  58. Pops up an options menu. In there
  59. you can modify the level of diffi-

  68. This pops up the SOUND MENU, the
  69. menu with the power to wobble your

  75. It also offers you a juke box.

  92. Your goal is to carefully manoeuver
  93. your vehicle from START to FINISH.
  94.  
  95. The easiest way to accomplish that
  96. is to slam on the gas and never to
  97. use the brakes.
  98.  
  99. That means, this would be the 
  100. easiest way, IF the road was per-
  101. fectly straight with no opponents
  102. on it.

  110.  
  111. Besides showing the road, the 
  112. screen is your online-source for 
  113. an abundance of information.

  115. In the top half you can see the
  116. TIME, the SCORE, your PROGRESS in
  117. the current stage (red bar), your
  118. SCORE (a turtle), and the HISCORE
  119. (a bunny).

  124. In the bottom half you can see 
  125. your SPEED, your current POSITION,
  126. and a STICK SHIFT (even if you're 
  127. driving an automatic).

  129. After a crash a STEERING WHEEL in-
  130. dicates, that you can freely posi-
  131. tion your car on the road. 
  132. This will disappear as soon as you 
  133. set the car in motion.

  139. Every time you begin with a new 
  140. stage, #C0145000#C015 points are added to 
  141. your current score.

  143. Every time you advance by one po-

  146. Every time you are passed by an 
  147. opponent, #C014100#C015 points are deducted. 
  148.  
  149. #C01410#C015 points are deducted for every 
  150. second you waste!

  152. Additional points are awarded for 
  153. picking up the various bonus stuff.

  156. The editor has two screens. The
  157. first one gives you a list of the
  158. 15 available custom tracks. Here
  159. you can either choose the track you
  160. want to modify, or you can back out
  161. to the main menu.

  163. #C014Of course you want to pick a track!
  164.  
  165. Once this is done, using #C011UP/DOWN#C015 &
  166. #C011FIRE#C015, screen |2 comes into the 
  167. game.
  168. This whole screen is filled by a 
  169. first person view of the track in
  170. its current shape.

  173. You cannot change the track di-
  174. rectly, but you rather change its
  175. properties, i.e. WIDTH, LENGTH,
  176. STEEPNESS, RANDOM 'SEED', etc.

  178. At the top of the screen you can
  179. see a number of red bars.
  180. Each of the bars stands for one of
  181. the properties.
  182.  
  183. Use #C011UP/DOWN#C015 to select a bar,
  184. #C011LEFT/RIGHT#C015 to change its value,
  185. #C011FIRE#C015 to confirm your change and
  186. to make it visible on the road.
  187.  
  188. If you select another bar before
  189. pressing fire, your change on the
  190. current bar will be discarded.

  193. WIDTH, STEEPNESS, and CURVINESS
  194. only take their full effect to-
  195. wards the middle of the track, so
  196. you might not see such a big dif-
  197. ference every time.
  198. The most massive changes are accom-
  199. plished by changing the SEED-bar.

  201. If your track looks alright and
  202. you want to give it a spin, go
  203. ahead and choose the TEST DRIVE
  204. option.
  205. If you like the feel of it, choose
  206. EXIT & SAVE, which will ask you for
  207. a name and save the track for you.

  209. ABANDON TRACK will go back to the
  210. list without saving your changes.
